SST Coordinator (Expatriate or National)

As the Student Support Coordinator, you will lead and manage the support services for students with special educational needs and learning diversity. This position focuses on designing inclusive systems, supporting teachers, coordinating interventions, and ensuring our school fulfils the IB commitment to access, inclusion, and differentiated learning for all students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the referral, assessment, and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process for students with special educational needs (SEN), in collaboration with teachers, support staff, and external specialists.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate intervention strategies and accommodations to support students’ learning, behavior, communication, and social-emotional development.
  • Coach and train classroom teachers in differentiation, inclusive instructional strategies, lesson modifications, and classroom accommodations.
  • Monitor and track student progress using diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments; maintain data dashboards; ensure timely reviews and updates of IEPs.
  • Coordinate support services including speech, occupational therapy, counseling, assistive technology, etc., ensuring alignment with student goals and school processes.
  • Ensure compliance with child protection, safeguarding, inclusion policies, and IB and local regulations regarding support of diverse learners.
  • Facilitate communication and partnership among students, parents, teachers, and external professionals to ensure effective implementation of support plans.
  • Participate in Student Support Team (SST) meetings, case conferences, and transition planning (e.g., between year levels or between MYP and DP).
  • Lead or contribute to professional development for staff related to special education, inclusive education, and best practices for supporting diverse learners.
  • Contribute to school-wide policy development and planning for inclusion, equity, and student wellbeing.

Background Experiences

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in roles supporting students with special educational needs, learning support, or similar in a school setting.
  • Prior experience in an IB World School or international school is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success coordinating learning support programs, interventions, and working with diverse student populations.
  • Knowledge and experience with Response to Intervention (RTI) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) frameworks.
  • Experience managing/working with external specialists (e.g., speech therapists, educational psychologists, occupational therapists).
  • Proven ability to provide teacher coaching or professional development in inclusive practices and differentiation.

Professional & Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, Learning Support, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Certifications or training relevant to special education, inclusive education, or learning diversity (e.g., SEN accreditation, differentiated instruction, assistive tech).
  • Understanding of IB policies C practices, especially regarding special educational needs, inclusion, and access.
  • Strong proficiency in English; Bahasa Indonesia skills are an asset.

  • In-depth knowledge of inclusive pedagogy, differentiated instruction, RTI/MTSS frameworks, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
  • Ability to design, implement, and evaluate IEPs and intervention plans.
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to use data to inform decisions, measure impact, and adjust strategies.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills — with students, families, teachers, and external professionals.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple student cases, maintain detailed documentation, and meet review timelines.
  • Cultural sensitivity, empathy, and commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centered learning.
