Librarian/Teacher Librarian

The Librarian is responsible for managing the library’s collections and facilities, supporting student literacy and research, and collaborating with teachers to provide relevant and engaging learning resources.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Curriculum Understanding and Collection Development

  • Understand the IB curriculum framework (PYP & MYP), including the Learner Profile, Approaches to Learning (ATL), Transdisciplinary Themes, and Global Contexts.
  • Provide and manage an inclusive, multicultural collection that supports international-mindedness.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of research strategies and interdisciplinary concepts to support student learning.

2. Library Management

  • Organize and maintain books, resources, and library facilities to create a welcoming, engaging environment that promotes reading and research.
  • Manage daily operations, including circulation, cataloging, and library space organization.
  • Monitor facility conditions, report maintenance needs, and ensure the library environment is safe and well-maintained.

3. Learning and Literacy Support

  • Collaborate with teachers and the ICT Officer to provide resources that align with unit learning needs.
  • Develop strategies to support student literacy and research, including intervention and enrichment activities.
  • Guide students in finding appropriate books and resources, provide research support, and conduct storytime or read-aloud sessions.

4. Promotion and Engagement

  • Promote library use through events, thematic displays, and announcements of new collections.
  • Stay updated on literacy trends, identify award-winning materials, and develop programs to enhance students’ reading interest.
  • Participate in team planning meetings to support upcoming inquiry units.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science or Information and Library Science.
  • Preferably has prior work experience in a library or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with the IB Curriculum and Indonesian National Curriculum.
  • Experience as a Teacher Librarian in PYP and/or MYP levels is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of book classification and cataloging systems.
  • Understanding of citation methods and plagiarism.
  • Knowledge of information literacy and digital media literacy.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills within a school environment.
  • Proficiency in English is highly preferred.
