Christian Religion Teacher / Guru Agama Kristen

The Christian Religion Teacher is responsible for helping students understand Christian values and guiding them in applying those values in their daily lives. The teacher fosters faith development, moral growth, and the practice of compassion and tolerance within a diverse community.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching & Curriculum

  • Deliver PYP & MYP lessons using current pedagogical approaches, focusing on the IB Learner Profile, inquiry, attitudes, and transdisciplinary skills.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of both the IB and National Curricula to ensure learning that is challenging, coherent, and of high quality.
  • Manage lesson planning and documentation using the YPJ Unit Planner and SharePoint.

2. Values Formation & Character Development

  • Promote the school’s vision, mission, and core values.
  • Support students’ Christian faith growth while fostering compassion and tolerance toward different beliefs.
  • Guide students in personal development and self-growth.

3. Assessment & Learning Support

  • Use formative and summative assessments effectively, providing timely and constructive feedback to improve student achievement.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet the diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds of students.
  • Create a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment that supports students’ social and emotional well-being.

4. Collaboration & Communication

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, school leaders, and parents to support student learning.
  • Communicate effectively with students and parents regarding academic and character development.
  • Participate in meetings, school activities, and supervision duties as assigned.

5. Professional Engagement & School Involvement

  • Support After-School Activities (ASA), extracurricular programs, and student support services.
  • Comply with all school and foundation policies and procedures.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities, including substitute teaching duties, when required.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Christian Religious Education or Theology.
  • Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience (experience in IB schools is an advantage).
  • Ability to integrate technology and digital documentation in teaching and learning.
  • Understanding of the IB Curriculum and National Curriculum.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in a multicultural school environment.
  • Proficiency in English is preferred.
