As the IB MYP Science & DP Sciences Teacher, you are responsible for designing and delivering a rigorous, inquiry-based science program that develops students’ conceptual understanding, research skills, and appreciation for scientific inquiry. You will teach both general MYP Science and specialized DP Chemistry, emphasizing laboratory investigation, scientific communication, and interdisciplinary learning.
This position requires a teacher with a minimum of five years of IB MYP and/or DP experience, who can serve as both an instructional leader and a mentor to colleagues new to IB methodologies. The ideal candidate is a reflective practitioner who models humility, curiosity, and collaboration while driving high academic standards and nurturing a culture of inquiry and experimentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and deliver engaging lessons in MYP Science and DP Sciences, aligned with IB frameworks and school learning outcomes.
- Create an inquiry-rich classroom that encourages students to question, investigate, and construct meaning through scientific methods.
- Guide DP students through internal and external assessments, emphasizing data interpretation, experimental design, and written communication.
- Integrate real-world applications, sustainability issues, and global contexts into science learning.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning profiles and language levels.
- Implement formative and summative assessments aligned with IB assessment criteria and provide timely, actionable feedback.
- Ensure safe and ethical laboratory practices while developing students’ confidence in handling scientific equipment and data collection tools.
- Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen interdisciplinary learning and connections between science, mathematics, and design.
- Mentor peers in developing effective inquiry-based and concept-driven instruction consistent with IB expectations.
- Participate in internal standardization, moderation, and professional learning to enhance instructional quality.
- Support the development of science clubs, fairs, and competitions to promote scientific curiosity and leadership.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or other relevant administrator.
Background Experiences
- Minimum 5 years of IB MYP and/or DP teaching experience, with a proven record of student success in DP Chemistry assessments.
- Experience developing science curricula that emphasize inquiry, experimentation, and conceptual understanding.
- Demonstrated success leading or contributing to curriculum development and professional learning for teachers.
- Experience supporting schools in early stages of IB implementation or transition from national curricula.
- Experience working in international, bilingual, or SPK schools; experience in remote or industrial communities is an advantage.
Professional & Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Science Education, or a closely related field (Master’s preferred).
- Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., SPd., M.Pd., PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent).
- Formal IB-recognized training in MYP Science and/or DP Sciences.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, teach, and assess according to IB standards and assessment criteria.
- Proficiency in English for English-medium instruction; bilingual ability in Bahasa Indonesia and English preferred.
