Student Support Teacher

The Student Support Teacher provides individualized academic and behavioral support for students with additional learning needs through personalized planning, differentiated instruction, and close collaboration with teachers and parents to ensure students’ academic progress and overall well-being.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Identification and Support Planning

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to assess and identify students with additional learning needs.
  • Develop and implement Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and Student Accommodation Plans (SAPs) tailored to each student’s profile.
  • Adapt instructional methods and materials in collaboration with classroom teachers to meet individual learning needs.

2. Implementation and Learning Monitoring

  • Provide direct instructional support through teaching, program modification, assessment, and progress monitoring.
  • Use a variety of strategies to support students’ social integration, language, communication, literacy, numeracy, and behavioral development.
  • Model and evaluate learning programs in partnership with classroom teachers.
  • Conduct classroom observations and document findings in student records.

3. Collaboration and Teacher Support

  • Advise and mentor teachers on strategies to support diverse learners in inclusive classrooms.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and families to maximize learning opportunities at school and at home.
  • Demonstrate effective classroom practices for accommodating individual student needs.

4. Student Development and Well-being

  • Facilitate each student’s potential and guide them toward achieving their personal best.
  • Build positive relationships that support students’ social-emotional well-being.

5. Administration and Reporting

  • Maintain and update assessment records, progress reports, and student meeting documentation.
  • Ensure effective communication, collaboration, and confidentiality in managing student data.

6. School Engagement

  • Participate in collaborative meetings, supervise school events, and take part in scheduled duties.
  • Set professional growth goals within the YPJ Teacher Appraisal System.
  • Support ASA (After School Activities), extracurricular programs, and learning service projects.
  • Adhere to Yayasan and PTFI policies, maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support school needs.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or Special Education (Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Open-minded, creative, and reflective teaching practitioner.
  • Technologically adept and able to integrate technology into learning.
  • Proficiency in English is highly preferred.
